The role of a Reading Ambassador is to engage, encourage and support the creation of a positive reading ethos across the whole school.
We currently have one Reading Ambassador in every Key Stage Two classroom. The children were picked for this role because of their joy for reading and their ideas for how we can continue to improve reading across the school. The children work with the Reading leader, to ensure that high quality texts and a positive reading atmosphere are a high priority in our school.
Their role includes -
- maintaining the school library and the reading areas in all classrooms.
- the purchasing of new books that are relevant and exciting for all age groups across school.
- being involved in the organisation of book events such as World Book Day.
- offering advice, support and recommendations to their friends about which books to read.
