The first part of this term, we will be spending time getting to know our children and developing relationships with them and settling them into school routines. We will be finding out what their strengths are and planning a rich curriculum surrounding their strengths and interests! We use the theme of 'Me, Myself and I' to support this time of year. We will be talking about ourselves and our families, where we live and what makes us special.
Our next theme after half term is called 'Let's Celebrate'. During which time we will be celebrating the change in seasons, and all the wonderful festivals that take place including Bonfire Night, Diwali, Children in Need and Christmas to name but a few!
This half term our theme is called 'Once Upon a Time.'
We will be reading a range of Traditional Tales. This will give us the opportunity to compare the stories. We will also be able to develop our imaginative play and begin to retell the stories using 'story language'. We will have opportunities to cook, make models, dress up and become characters from a range of traditional tales.
We will also be celebrating The Chinese New Year in January!
This term our themes are 'Where the Wild Things Are' and 'Water and Moving On'.
This term we are going to develop our children's learning through a theme all about animals, from little tiny minibeasts such as ants and spiders, all the way to some massive animals like giraffes, elephants and whales!!!!
We will be using a lot of familiar stories to capture our children's interests.
We have a lot of exciting events coming up too, including sports day, class assemblies, trip to the safari park and much more. Aswell as this we are going to have some living eggs in school, and see what happens when they hatch!!!!
Today we took part in some exciting Sports Relief activities. We dressed up in our sporty outfits, had our faces painted and exercised almost non-stop all day!!!! We joined in with Jump Start Jonny, moving to some of our favourite songs!

This week the school nurses came to visit us. They told us all about how to keep our hands nice and clean and how to wash away those nasty germs! We know that we must wash our hands and dry our hands really well every time we have been to the bathroom, stroked one of our pets, sneezed or coughed and when we have been playing with mucky stuff!
The nurses also showed us how to brush our teeth. They had a friend with them called Frank-he has really big teeth!! We even got a present off them-a new toothbrush and some toothpaste!!!!!
Today we had our maths family learning morning. We had a lot of fun sharing all the practical ways we do maths in the Foundation Stage. We would like to thank all the parents who took part in our morning and we look forward to our next event!
